Penny Armstrong M.A.

Penny is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has worked with individuals, couples and families over the past 35+ years as a Registered Nurse, Pastor and for the last 20 years as a therapist. Penny works with individuals (18 and older), couples and families using a client centered approach and an eclectic mix of counselling modalities depending on the client and issues presented. Her areas of interest include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family of origin issues, midlife transitions, and later life transitions. An area of special interest is marriage therapy. Penny has worked with many couples to both strengthen existing relationships and to assist in recovery and rebuilding in times of relational crisis and distress. Penny uses a variety of strategies to help couples succeed including mapping (conflict), enhanced communication techniques (including Gottman resources), and helping couples identify unmet dreams/goals that block the process of moving forward. Penny is the co-author of Couple Care Marriage Preparation Manual and Along The Way (a book encouraging healthy relationships for those already married).
Married for 35 years, and the mother of three married sons, Penny is currently the co-Executive Director of Oasis Ministries, a non profit organization that works with Pastors, Missionaries and ministry leaders dealing with professional and personal issues.
Penny loves spending time with family, friends and always enjoys a good laugh. She loves getting lost in a good story and is determined one day to write one. In the mean time her passion is journeying with people and sharing in the deep places and spaces of their lives.Penny is a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
