David Aboussafy

Dr.David Aboussafy, Ph.D, C-SAE, R.Psych, is an experience clinical and rehabilitation psychologist with a practice that focusses on assessment and evidenced-based, functionally focussed, treatment of adults. Dr. Aboussafy has an honours psychology degree from SFU, and earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Faculty of Science at McGill University with internships at the Allan Memorial Institute of Royal Victoria Hospital. He completed two post doctoral fellowships, one at Vancouver General Hospital Department of Psychology/Psychiatric Assessment Unit and the other at The University of British Columbia's Faculty of Medicine. He has been a Registered Psychologist in BC since 2001 and has maintained an active private practice since that time. In 2006, he also earned a Certified Substance Abuse Expert designation. Dr. Aboussafy has served as an expert witness for the BC Supreme Court, and as a Senior Psychological Advisor for WorkSafeBC. Dr. Aboussafy has consulted for many rehabilitation organizations including LifeMark, Orion Health, M.Jackson Group Rehabilitation Psychology, and has been a Clinical Co-ordinated at UBC. Dr. Aboussafy has also served as the Vice President of the BC Psychological Association, and as Chair of the Section on Health Psychology of the Canadian Psychological Association.

Outside of clinical psychology, Dr. Aboussafy enjoys time with his family:wife mezzo-soprano Melanie Adams and their two daughters. He also writes, produces and distributes independent films and founded and directs an annual Vancouver film festival.

Dr. Aboussafy provides a range of clinical psychological assessment and treatment services to adults. These services include diagnostic and medical legal psychological assessment and reporting which can include opinions on prognosis, causality, rating of psychological impairment or disability, and evidence-based psychological treatment and rehabilitation planning.
