Matt is passionate about people and the discovery of what makes us human. He believes that we have a natural desire and ability to grow, but often require the support of one another to become unstuck and heal. This has been his experience, and the experience of those he has had the privilege to work with. Matt strives to create meaningful relationships with his clients built on safety, trust, and hope, where people feel accepted and challenged to grow.
Matt holds a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. As a counsellor, Matt maintains an integrative approach, drawing from theories of trauma, attachment, and family/community systems. however, Matt tailors his approach to the specific goals and strengths of each individual client. Additionally, Matt is trained in Observed and Experiential Integration (OEI) and Lifespan Integration (LI), both of which are a body-based trauma processing therapies.
In practice, Matt works with teenagers and adults in the following areas:
- Anxiety/Panic Attacks
- Depression (including suicidal thoughts)
- Early Childhood Relational Trauma (abuse, neglect and/or abandonment)
- Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
- Grief and Loss (including infertility)
- Behavioural Addictions (e.g. pornography, gaming, stress eating)
- Stress and Burnout
- Life transitions
