Lisa Trainor

Lisa is an intern counsellor who offers:

  • Sport psychology services to adolescents and adults competing at any level, who are experiencing a variety of concerns including; injury, grief and loss, anxiety, stress, depression, body image, self-esteem/self-worth, eating disorders, and personal growth. In addition, performance psychology services including performance anxiety, performance plateaus, motivation, perfectionism, confidence, goal setting, coach/teammate relationships, injury, and retirement.
  • short-term counselling to adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of concerns including, chronic pain, injury, physical health recovery, grief and loss, anxiety, stress, depression, body image, self-esteem/self-worth, eating disorders, relationships and personal growth.

She adopts a collaborative and eclectic approach that is tailored to the needs and goals of each client. Lisa draws from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths Based Approaches, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

She received her MA in Kinesiology's Sport and Exercise Psychology from The University of British Columbia, and she is currently completing her PhD in Sport and Exercise Psychology at The University of British Columbia. Upon completing her practicum hours, she will seek membership with the BC's Association of Clinical Counsellors. Lisa also has experience playing sports at a high level as a varsity athlete.
