Tena Colton, Psy.D.

Tena specializes in short-term therapy. She provides individuals and couples with support and guidance as they work through issues of depression, trauma, phobias, grief, anxiety, communication breakdown, divorce, conflict resolution and anger management.
Special areas of interest are grief, posttraumatic stress disorder and medical crisis counselling.
Tena's therapeutic approach is eclectic, using a system oriented cognitive-behavioural model which emphasizes the development of personal skills, relationship building and capitalizing on the client's own strengths. She is a qualified EMDR therapist.
In 1992, Tena received her Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Alfred Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. In 2002 she received her Doctor of Psychology Degree from the Southern California University for Professional Studies in Santa Anna, California.
Tena is a member of the College of Psychologists of BC, Canadian Psychology Association, Adlerian Psychology Association of British Columbia and EMDRIA.
